240mm Knauf FactoryClad Roll 40 is a glass mineral wool insulation roll for built-up metal roof and wall systems, and the one thickness in the range that breaks the usual trade-off. Across the rest of the range, going deeper means shorter rolls and less coverage from each one. At 240mm the roll runs 4.70m against the 220mm roll's 4.35m, so it covers 5.64m² where the 220mm covers 5.22m², and a pallet delivers 135.36m² against 125.28m². Stepping up to 240mm gains thermal resistance and area per roll at the same time, which is worth checking if the two depths were being compared on quantities.
Declared thermal conductivity is 0.040 W/mK, giving a thermal resistance of 6.00 m²K/W, and water vapour resistivity is 5.00 MNs/g.m. Published embodied carbon is 2.07 kgCO2e/m² across stages A1 to A3 and 2.75 kgCO2e/m² across A1 to C4. Rolls are supplied uncut at 1200mm wide, unfaced, 24 to a pallet.
There is a point about calculation that becomes important at this depth. The U-value of a built-up system depends on the material properties and on the degree of thermal bridging through it, and once the quilt is 240mm deep the wool is no longer the limiting factor: the spacer brackets penetrating the layer are. A simplified calculation may not capture that adequately. Knauf's own guidance is that U-values for a proprietary system should be produced using 2D or 3D modelling software compliant with BS EN ISO 6946:2017 or BS EN ISO 10211:2017, following BR443:2019, and they will carry out numerically modelled calculations where the detailing calls for it. They also publish a psi-value calculator for the junctions. Specifying 240mm and then accepting a rough U-value figure wastes most of what the depth bought.
The build-up itself is unchanged: liner sheet fixed, quilt laid over it, spacer system brought up to take the quilt into the cavity, outer profiled sheet fixed last, all to Knauf Insulation's guidance and the cladding system manufacturer's details. Bracket height and fixing lengths need confirming against 240mm before ordering. The depth suits industrial, commercial and agricultural buildings carrying a continuous heating or cooling load rather than seasonal use, and on farms that points to intensive livestock housing running heat through the year, such as farrowing houses and calf rearing units, and to refrigerated produce stores where the plant runs constantly and depth pays back against running cost.

Good to know:
- The 240mm roll is longer than the 220mm: 4.70m against 4.35m. It is the only increase in the range that gains coverage rather than losing it, so compare the two on rolls required, not on thickness alone.
- At this depth the brackets govern the U-value, not the wool: ask for a modelled calculation to BS EN ISO 10211:2017 rather than a simplified figure, and look at the junction psi-values too.
- Confirm the spacer system carries 240mm: bracket height and fixing lengths need checking rather than assuming, on walls as well as roofs.
- Available in the 40 grade only. FactoryClad Roll 35 stops at 220mm and Roll 32 is made in 80mm.
- The 40 denotes a declared conductivity of 0.040 W/mK, not a thickness.
- Non-hygroscopic, but not moisture resistant. Keep it dry and covered, and discard any roll that has taken water.
- Handle without crushing the roll edges, and discard damaged product rather than installing it.
240mm gives you 6.00 m²K/W and, unusually for this range, more coverage per roll than the thickness below it.

How do I place an order with Insulation UK?

How do I know what’s happening with my order and when I will receive it?
When you have placed your order, you will then receive an email confirmation, giving you an order reference number and asking you to double check everything is correct on your order such as delivery address, quantities etc. If there are any amendments to be made, then please reply to your confirmation email with any details.
Once the team has processed the order you will receive an email with a BY delivery date, this is the latest date you will receive your delivery.

Will the driver help unload the insulation products?
Most of our deliveries are made with vehicles with mechanical off-load (known as a moffett or fork-lift), the driver will leave them in a safe place of your choice. They will help as much as they are allowed but are not insured to bring anything into a property.
