Loft Roll Insulation

The most common form of loft insulation is loft roll. Available in a variety of thicknesses from 50mm to 200mm, the standard loft roll has perforations to ensure it fits between standard joists and reduces the need for measuring. Here at Insulation UK we offer major brands such as Knauf Loft Roll 44, Superglass Multi Roll and our sustainable range from Thermafleece which includes the CosyWool range - made from 75% British sheeps wool and the SupaSoft range made from recycled plastic bottles.

Loft insulation is one of the most effective ways of insulating your roof area. The initial cost of insulating your loft can be recouped in just three years, due to the incredible savings made on household bills. Available in both rolls and boards, loft insulation is an effective way of ensuring your home is warm, energy efficient and environmentally friendly. The most common term used in regards to loft insulation 'Cold Loft Insulation', Cold loft insulation is the most popular method used for roofs and lofts because it is the cheapest option. You install the insulation above the ceiling on the top floor of your home. The material is placed over the top of and between all the wooden joists. This has to be done at a minimum of 270mm as per building regulations. So for example you would lay a 100mm loft roll like Superglass in between your joists and then lay a 170mm or 200mm Superglass over the top. The advantages of cold roof insulation are that it is cheaper to install, it can keep your house cooler in the heat of the summer and it is suitable for outbuildings or places that you don’t live in continually.
