Fire protection boards are non-combustible rigid panels used to provide passive fire protection (PFP) in walls, ceilings, structural steel casings and fire-rated service risers. All boards in this range carry an A1 Euroclass classification, the highest non-combustible rating under European fire testing standards, making them suitable for applications where standard fire-resistant plasterboard cannot meet the performance or regulatory specification required. They are workable with standard tools and fixed using screws alongside appropriate fire-rated sealants and accessories.

Types of Fire Protection Board

Three board types are stocked in this range, each with distinct compositions and performance profiles suited to different application requirements.

Fibre Cement Boards

STS NoMorePly is a fibre cement board available in 6mm, 9mm and 12mm, carrying an A1 non-combustible classification. It is widely used as a fire-resistant alternative to structural sheet materials such as plywood, and is specified across walls, floors and wet areas in both commercial fit-outs and multi-occupancy residential construction. Available in 800mm x 1200mm and 2400mm x 1200mm formats.

Gypsum Fibre Boards

Fermacell Firepanel A1 is a gypsum fibre board available in 12.5mm and 15mm in a 2600mm x 1200mm format. Its high-density gypsum fibre composition makes it a strong performer in commercial and industrial applications, including shaft wall construction and fire-rated protective wall and ceiling linings in high-specification builds.

Glass-Fibre Reinforced Gypsum Boards

British Gypsum Glasroc F covers two products. Glasroc F FireCase is a glass-fibre reinforced gypsum board available from 15mm to 30mm, designed specifically for the fire casing of structural steel beams and columns. Glasroc F MultiBoard is available in 6mm, 10mm and 12.5mm and is suited to wall linings, ceilings and floor applications where a multi-purpose fire-resistant panel is required.

Applications for Fire Protection Boards

Fire protection boards are most commonly specified on projects where Building Regulations Part B requires a fully non-combustible lining or casing. Typical applications include fire-rated shaft walls, the structural casing of steel beams and columns, and high-specification wall and ceiling linings in commercial, industrial and multi-occupancy residential buildings.

For projects where fire-resistant plasterboard is the correct specification, those products are covered separately in the dedicated fire resistant plasterboard collection.
