160mm Knauf FactoryClad Roll 40 is a glass mineral wool insulation roll for built-up metal roof and wall systems, and a depth that comes up as often on the wall as it does on the roof. Built-up metal walls are framed on side rails rather than purlins, with the quilt held off the liner sheet by a bracket and rail spacer system before the outer profiled sheet is fixed. At 160mm that spacer system needs specifying for the depth rather than being asked to accommodate it after the fact.
Each roll measures 7.05m by 1200mm and covers 8.46m², with 24 rolls to a pallet giving 203.04m². Declared thermal conductivity is 0.040 W/mK, producing a thermal resistance of exactly 4.00 m²K/W, and water vapour resistivity is 5.00 MNs/g.m. Published embodied carbon is 1.38 kgCO2e/m² across stages A1 to A3 and 1.83 kgCO2e/m² across A1 to C4. For a quantity, divide the net area of the roof slope or elevation by 8.46 for rolls, then allow for cutting and waste at ends and details.
There is a reason a 160mm roll still fits 24 to a pallet. Knauf use a three-tier compression packaging process that loads more product into each pack and pallet, so a deep quilt arrives in much the same footprint as a slim one. That means less packaging per square metre, fewer vehicles for the same delivered area, and less space tied up on site while the job runs. The wool itself is made with up to 80% recycled content, including glass recovered from windows, bottles and jars, and Knauf hold a BES 6001 (v4.0) 'Very Good' rating for responsible sourcing across their mineral wool plants.
The build-up sequence is the same on a wall as on a roof: liner sheet fixed, quilt laid over it, spacer system brought up to take the quilt into the cavity, outer sheet fixed last, all in line with Knauf Insulation's guidance and the cladding system manufacturer's details. It suits new-build twin-skin walls and roofs, standing seam roofs, and re-cladding where the thermal target has moved on from the original build-up. On farms, 160mm often goes into buildings that have changed use, where a shed has become a workshop, a storage unit or a light industrial let and is now heated and occupied all day. Whichever the case, the U-value belongs to the whole assembly, so have it calculated to BS EN ISO 6946:2017 or BS EN ISO 10211:2017 using BR443:2019.

Good to know:
- 160mm in the 40 grade matches 140mm in the 35 grade: both reach 4.00 m²K/W. Where cavity depth is tight the 35 grade gets there 20mm shallower. Where the depth is available, this is the option.
- Specify the spacer system for 160mm: bracket height and fixing lengths need to suit the depth, particularly on walls where side rail centres differ from purlin centres.
- Working out quantities: divide the net area by 8.46 for rolls or by 203.04 for pallets, then add for cutting and waste.
- The 40 is a lambda grade meaning 0.040 W/mK, not a thickness.
- Supplied uncut at 7.05m per roll and unfaced on both faces.
- Non-hygroscopic, but not a moisture-resistant product: keep it dry and under cover, and discard any roll that has got wet.
- Euroclass A1 non-combustibility may bear on the insurance position against foam composite panels. Check with the insurer for the building concerned.

How do I place an order with Insulation UK?
You can place an order for delivery anytime online. If you want to collect from our distribution centre in South Yorkshire then please email us your requirements at sales@insulationuk.co.uk

How do I know what’s happening with my order and when I will receive it?
When you have placed your order, you will then receive an email confirmation, giving you an order reference number and asking you to double check everything is correct on your order such as delivery address, quantities etc. If there are any amendments to be made, then please reply to your confirmation email with any details.
Once the team has processed the order you will receive an email with a BY delivery date, this is the latest date you will receive your delivery.
Your final email will be a 24/48hr notification, on the day of the delivery if you need a more accurate ETA then contact the office on 03003 034 578.
Do you offer next-day delivery?
Yes, we do on certain lines, you will see our next day delivery products marked as NEXT DAY. Order before 12pm for next day delivery (charges will apply)
How much does delivery cost and how long will it take?

Do you deliver nationwide?

Will the driver help unload the insulation products?
Most of our deliveries are made with vehicles with mechanical off-load (known as a moffett or fork-lift), the driver will leave them in a safe place of your choice. They will help as much as they are allowed but are not insured to bring anything into a property.
What happens if my order arrives damaged or incomplete?

What if my order doesn’t arrive and I have paid for trades to be on site, can I claim anything towards the costs I have incurred?
We advise not to have trades booked in and around the day of your delivery. Things can happen beyond our control, and your delivery may be delayed or abandoned. We cannot be held liable for any consequential loss such as tradesman wages etc.
