After 62.5mm, the K118 range widens its increments from 5mm to 10mm steps, and 72.5mm Kingspan Kooltherm K118 Insulated Plasterboard is the first board in that wider run. Built around a 60mm fibre-free rigid phenolic core, factory-bonded to a 12.5mm tapered-edge gypsum plasterboard, it delivers a genuinely bigger single jump in thermal performance than any of the closer-spaced thinner boards manage on their own.
Each board measures 2400mm x 1200mm for 2.88m² of coverage, and weighs approximately 12.98kg/m². The declared thermal conductivity is 0.019 W/mK, consistent across the whole K118 range. From the 60mm core, 72.5mm K118 achieves a thermal resistance of 3.15 m²K/W, one of only two thicknesses in the range where the R-value is confirmed directly against Kingspan's current published datasheet rather than calculated from the core thickness (52.5mm is the other). As always, the completed wall's U-value depends on the full build-up, not the board figure alone, so it needs calculating against the actual construction.
The tapered edge on all four sides means joints fill and skim exactly like standard plasterboard, leaving no visible seam once decorated. On the reverse face, a low-emissivity composite foil acts as the board's integral vapour control layer: K118 is a moisture closed system, keeping damp out via the VCL and the wall's external leaf rather than relying on the wall breathing. The core is manufactured with a blowing agent of zero Ozone Depletion Potential and low Global Warming Potential, and resists mould and microbial growth.
Kingspan's own guidance confirms K118 for use on solid stonework and brickwork, with or without an existing lining, as well as masonry cavity walls and timber frame construction. It's also used as insulated drylining fixed at rafter level to form a sloping ceiling in loft conversions and pitched roof build-ups, typically working alongside a primary rafter insulation board such as Kooltherm K107. Fixed to timber battens, Kingspan specifies battens at 600mm vertical centres with a damp-proof-course strip between batten and wall, boards fixed with drywall screws at 300mm centres or galvanised clout nails at 150mm centres, and noggins positioned horizontally at floor and ceiling level at a maximum of 1200mm vertical centres. Install in line with the latest Kingspan technical guidance and the project specification, with particular care at joints, penetrations and perimeters so the integral vapour control layer performs as intended.

How do I place an order with Insulation UK?
You can place an order for delivery anytime online. If you want to collect from our distribution centre in South Yorkshire then please email us your requirements at sales@insulationuk.co.uk

How do I know what’s happening with my order and when I will receive it?
When you have placed your order, you will then receive an email confirmation, giving you an order reference number and asking you to double check everything is correct on your order such as delivery address, quantities etc. If there are any amendments to be made, then please reply to your confirmation email with any details.
Once the team has processed the order you will receive an email with a BY delivery date, this is the latest date you will receive your delivery.
Your final email will be a 24/48hr notification, on the day of the delivery if you need a more accurate ETA then contact the office on 03003 034 578.
Do you offer next-day delivery?

How much does delivery cost and how long will it take?

Do you deliver nationwide?

Will the driver help unload the insulation products?
Most of our deliveries are made with vehicles with mechanical off-load (known as a moffett or fork-lift), the driver will leave them in a safe place of your choice. They will help as much as they are allowed but are not insured to bring anything into a property.
What happens if my order arrives damaged or incomplete?
In the unlikely event your order arrives damaged, then please contact within 48 hours at sales@insulationuk.co.uk with any images of the damage and the team will be in touch. If there is anything missing, then notify the team within 48 hours on 03003 034 578
What if my order doesn’t arrive and I have paid for trades to be on site, can I claim anything towards the costs I have incurred?
We advise not to have trades booked in and around the day of your delivery. Things can happen beyond our control, and your delivery may be delayed or abandoned. We cannot be held liable for any consequential loss such as tradesman wages etc.

Euroclass reaction to fire is the European EN 13501-1 classification used to show how a construction product behaves when exposed to fire.
