Kooltherm - phenolic insulation Kooltherm is Kingspan's premium phenolic range, offering some of the lowest thermal conductivity available, so you can hit a target U-value from the thinnest possible board. It's the range to reach for where space is tight or thermal performance is the priority, with boards for floors, pitched roofs, cavity walls, external walls and framed walls.

Therma - PIR insulation The Therma range is Kingspan's rigid PIR insulation for floors, roofs and walls, a reliable, cost-effective choice across a huge range of standard applications, from solid and suspended floors to flat and pitched roofs and cavity walls.

GreenGuard - XPS insulation GreenGuard is Kingspan's extruded polystyrene (XPS) range: moisture-resistant, durable and strong under load, making it ideal for below-ground and demanding applications such as basement walls, floors, perimeter insulation and inverted flat roofs. It comes in a range of compressive strengths, 300, 500 and 700 kPa.

Insulated plasterboard - Kingspan's insulated plasterboard combines phenolic insulation with tapered-edge plasterboard and a built-in vapour control layer, so you can insulate and line a wall in a single board, a popular choice for upgrading internal walls.

Kingspan insulation for every application

Whatever part of the build you're insulating, there's a Kingspan board designed for it:

• Walls - full-fill and partial-fill cavity boards, external wall board for render and cladding, and internal and framing boards for timber and steel frame walls.
• Floors - phenolic and PIR floor boards for solid and suspended floors, plus XPS for below-ground and perimeter insulation.
• Roofs - pitched roof boards fitted at rafter level, and flat roof boards matched to your waterproofing system.
• Internal lining - insulated plasterboard that insulates and finishes a wall in a single board.

Is Kingspan insulation waterproof?

Kingspan's rigid boards are moisture-resistant rather than fully waterproof. PIR and phenolic boards resist moisture well and many are foil-faced for added protection, but they aren't designed for long-term water exposure. The GreenGuard XPS range is the most moisture-resistant option and is specifically designed for damp and below-ground environments such as basements and inverted roofs. As always, correct detailing  such as vapour control layers, sealed joints and the right board for the location is what keeps a build dry.

Thicknesses, sizes and U-values

We stock Kingspan insulation in thicknesses from 25mm up to 150mm, with 50mm and 100mm among the most popular. The thickness you need depends on the application and the U-value you're aiming for. As Kingspan boards perform so well per millimetre, you can often hit a target U-value with a thinner board than other materials would require.
