Product Description
Product Description
Thermal Economics IsoEdge Perimeter Strip (IsoEdge 6/260) is a pink, self-adhesive acoustic foam strip designed to isolate a floating or acoustic screed from the surrounding structure. It's fitted around the perimeter of a room, at walls, plaster or plasterboard, skirting boards and any penetrations, to stop sound bypassing the resilient layer and travelling through the structure instead, a problem known as flanking sound.
Supplied in a 260mm x 50m roll at 6mm thick, IsoEdge is made from low density polyethylene foam with a self-adhesive backing strip to one face. It has a density of 18 to 30kg/m³ and carries a Flammability Rating of B2 to DIN 4102. The strip is die-cut 100mm from the bottom edge and overprinted on the front face, so installers can see exactly where to fit it without guesswork.
IsoEdge 6/260 is designed for use in Thermal Economics' Isorubber Base/Code and Isorubber HP3 under-screed systems, working alongside the resilient layer rather than replacing it. Used together, this combination features in all of Thermal Economics' under-screed Part E compliant solutions, and IsoEdge 6/260 specifically is a named requirement of Robust Details E-FC-4, E-FC-12, E-FC-14 and E-FC-18, four of the constructions most commonly specified for separating floors between flats and apartments.
Install IsoEdge around the full perimeter of the room before the resilient layer and screed go down, taking it around returns and corners so the isolation stays continuous, and tape every joint, front and back, to keep the seal intact. It isolates the screed from walls, plaster or plasterboard, skirting boards and any pipe or service penetrations, closing off the routes flanking sound would otherwise use to bypass the acoustic floor build-up. It's also suitable for use in non-Robust Detail applications, wherever a perimeter isolation strip is needed for a floating or acoustic screed.
Key Benefits of Thermal Economics IsoEdge Perimeter Strip:
- Purpose-made perimeter isolation strip for isolating an acoustic screed from walls, plaster/plasterboard, skirting and penetrations.
- A named requirement of four Robust Details: E-FC-4, E-FC-12, E-FC-14 and E-FC-18.
- Designed for use with Thermal Economics' Isorubber Base/Code and Isorubber HP3 under-screed resilient layer systems.
- 260mm x 50m roll, 6mm thick, with a self-adhesive backing strip for quick fitting.
- Die-cut 100mm from the bottom edge and overprinted on the front face to guide installation.
- Low density polyethylene foam construction, density 18-30kg/m³.
- Flammability Rating B2 to DIN 4102.
- Zero Ozone Depletion Potential and Global Warming Potential below 5.
- Also suitable for non-Robust Detail acoustic screed applications.
Good to know:
- Fit it before the resilient layer: IsoEdge goes in around the perimeter of the room first, isolating the screed from walls and skirting before the Isorubber resilient layer and screed are installed on top.
- Take it around returns: carry the strip around corners and returns so the isolation line stays continuous, and tape every joint, front and back, to avoid a break in the seal.
- It works with a resilient layer, not instead of one: IsoEdge 6/260 isolates the perimeter; it's designed to be used alongside Isorubber Base/Code or Isorubber HP3 under the screed, not as a standalone resilient layer.
- Pink in colour with a self-adhesive backing strip; melting point 90°C.
- Not biodegradable, but recyclable through a registered recycler.
- Always refer to the latest Thermal Economics installation guidance and current Building Regulations for your specific project.
Flanking sound is one of the most common reasons acoustic floor tests fail on site, and it's usually down to a missing or poorly installed perimeter detail rather than the resilient layer itself. IsoEdge Perimeter Strip closes that gap: simple to fit, proven across four Robust Details, and built to work as part of a complete under-screed system rather than a bolt-on afterthought.

Euroclass reaction to fire is the European EN 13501-1 classification used to show how a construction product behaves when exposed to fire.
The main scale runs from A1 and A2 at the highest end, through B, C, D and E, down to F.
A1 is non-combustible and A2 is limited combustibility, while lower classes indicate a greater contribution to fire.
Euroclass F is the lowest rating on this scale and indicates the weakest reaction-to-fire performance.
This is different from fire resistance, which relates to how long a complete wall, floor or roof build-up can resist fire.
- Reaction to Fire:
- Flammability Rating B2 to DIN 4102
