Our Expert Says

75mm Recticel Eurowall® Cavity is a rigid PIR board for partial fill masonry walls, giving a thermal resistance of 3.40 m²K/W off a low 0.022 W/mK core. It fits between the wall ties as the wall goes up and is held against the inner leaf with retaining discs, joints butted tight and staggered to keep thermal bridging down across the clear residual cavity. The low-emissivity foil facing on both sides adds resistance across that cavity in a non-ventilated build-up. A strong option for new builds and renovations where a higher thermal target is needed from the board layer. Click for our full review.

Product Description

The 75mm Recticel Eurowall® Cavity Insulation Board is a rigid PIR board for partial fill insulation of masonry cavity walls. It is fitted between the wall ties as the wall is built and held against the inner leaf with retaining discs at a minimum of three points per board, leaving a clear residual cavity that manages moisture across the wall.

At 75mm the board carries a thermal resistance (RD) of 3.40 m²K/W with a declared thermal conductivity of 0.022 W/mK. The cavity needs to be wide enough to take the board and still leave the clear residual gap, so the wall build-up should be confirmed before specifying.

Both faces carry a gas diffusion tight multilayer foil with a low-emissivity grid pattern (ε 0.05), which adds thermal resistance across the residual cavity when installed in a non-ventilated build-up. The straight edges on all four sides let boards butt tightly, and joints are staggered in a brick-bond pattern to limit thermal bridging through the insulation layer.

The closed-cell PIR core absorbs little moisture, so the board holds its thermal performance over the life of the wall. Boards can be cut to size on site with a fine-toothed saw or sharp knife, and where a project calls for it a double layer can be installed with the joints offset between layers. The board suits new build and renovation work and should be installed in line with the latest Recticel technical guidance, project specification and relevant building requirements.

Key Benefits of 75mm Eurowall® Cavity:

  • Rigid PIR partial fill cavity board with 3.40 m²K/W thermal resistance at 75mm
  • Low 0.022 W/mK thermal conductivity for strong performance per millimetre of thickness
  • Foil facing on both sides (ε 0.05), adding resistance across the residual cavity in a non-ventilated build-up
  • Straight edges on all four sides for close-butted, staggered joints and reduced thermal bridging
  • Fixed against the inner leaf with retaining discs, leaving a clear residual cavity to manage moisture
  • Closed-cell core with low moisture absorption to maintain long-term performance
  • Supplied 12 boards per pack, covering 6.48m²
  • Manufactured in the UK to EN 13165:2012 + A2:2016

Recticel Eurowall® Cavity Insulation Board provides a partial fill insulation option for masonry cavity walls where thermal performance, board fit and long-term moisture resistance matter.

Product FAQs

What's better for 75mm cavity walls, Celotex or Recticel?

For partial fill cavity walls, the 75mm boards from both brands perform the same. Celotex CW4075 and Recticel Eurowall® Cavity are both rigid PIR boards measuring 1200mm x 450mm, with the same thermal conductivity of 0.022 W/mK and the same thermal resistance of 3.40 m²K/W at 75mm. Both are BBA certified and fit between standard cavity wall ties. On thermal performance there is nothing to choose between them, so the choice usually comes down to availability, price and lead time.

Is 75mm insulation enough for walls?

Whether 75mm is enough depends on the U-value your wall needs to achieve and the full build-up, not the board on its own. 75mm Recticel Eurowall® Cavity provides a thermal resistance of 3.40 m²K/W, which contributes to the overall wall U-value alongside the inner leaf, outer leaf, residual cavity and finishes. Some projects will meet the target with 75mm partial fill, while others specify a thicker board to satisfy current Building Regulations, so always check the target U-value and full specification before ordering.

Thermal Performance

Thermal performance helps show how effectively the product reduces heat transfer.

Thermal conductivity measures how readily heat passes through the material, so lower figures generally indicate better insulating performance.

R Value shows the material’s thermal resistance at that thickness, so higher figures generally mean stronger insulation performance.

These figures relate to the insulation product itself and should be considered alongside the full wall, roof or floor build-up when checking project requirements.

Thermal Conductivity:
0.022 W/mK
R Value:
3.4 M²K/W
Fire Performance

Euroclass reaction to fire is the European EN 13501-1 classification used to show how a construction product behaves when exposed to fire.

The main scale runs from A1 and A2 at the highest end, through B, C, D and E, down to F.

A1 is non-combustible and A2 is limited combustibility, while lower classes indicate a greater contribution to fire.

Euroclass F is the lowest rating on this scale and indicates the weakest reaction-to-fire performance.

This is different from fire resistance, which relates to how long a complete wall, floor or roof build-up can resist fire.
