Sound Insulation

Whether its non-stop noisy teenager you’re looking to escape or an addition to your house renovation – Sound Insulation is a great way to improve the quality of life in your home.

Something about modern times and technology seems to bring more noise, bigger rackets and constant uproars! Houses are being built closer together, cities are etching closer and closer towards our communities and all this noise is hugely impacted on our homes.

There’s no doubt that excessive noise raises our stress levels. It can disrupt our sleep and in general reduce our quality of life - your home should promote relaxation and peace from daily stress. Effective Sound Insulation can reduce noise disruption in your home as much as 70%. It can help keep your house cooler in the summer and provide great insulation in the winter. Sound Insulation can be installed just about anywhere, areas such as adjoining bathrooms, laundries, kitchens and lounges are all great places to start.

Common types of Sound Insulation

  • Drywall
Two thin layers of drywall with a noise-absorbing layer of viscoelastic in between. Although this is more expensive than normal drywall it saves buying multiple pieces of regular drywall and layering it to achieve the same effect.
  • Foam
This is generally the most popular option due to its affordability and convenience to install.
  • Sound Boards
These are placed between wall studs and drywall. The compressed wood material dampens higher frequency sounds coming from outside or indoors.
  • Batt
This solution offers both sound and warmth insulation qualities. Although this option is more expensive, the addition of thermal insulation helps offset the additional cost.
