Free Cavity Wall Insulation

Un-insulated or poorly insulated walls attribute to 30% of all heat loss in homes. If yours is one of the thousands of cavity wall homes in the UK, you could qualify for free cavity wall insulation under one of the governments many heating grants, designed to improve the energy efficiency of UK homes.

What is cavity wall insulation?

Many homes built after 1920 have walls constructed with two layers, leaving a ‘cavity’ between the outer and inner wall. Cavity wall insulation is injected into this space which forms a barrier to heat loss, and protects your home from cold air in winter, and warm air in summer. Cavity wall insulation makes your home easier to heat, and the heat it produces remains locked inside – keeping you and your family warm and healthy all winter long!

Am I Entitled to Free Cavity Wall Insulation?

Most of the UK big six energy providers offer free cavity wall insulation to qualifying households under government initiatives. These are designed to help homes across the UK become healthier, warmer and more energy efficient for years to come. To qualify for free cavity wall insulation, a resident of the home needs to be in receipt of specific benefits such as child tax credits or pension credits, as well as have an income below £15,860. The criteria may vary slightly between schemes, and if you don’t qualify for one scheme there may be others better aimed at your specific circumstances.
